! Jail Break

[EDIT:] So i've taken my friend Ragnar's advice and changed the Guard/Cop's expression to something less "happy" to hopefully be more clear and also made him a bit smaller and further back to show the distance between him and the guys busting out :)

My original is on the bottom

I've been working on this piece for a few days, i had this idea of a bunch of prisoners escaping and a search light behind ( classic jail break scene?)

another reason was i got some good advice lately about using more of a story telling method to do drawings ( simply put to add backgrounds and charaacters that interact to tell a story ) so this is a first attempt ( i have some pieces but i need to do more )
I re-used an old drawing as well to speed some things up :)

Cheers~

Sweet! Nice clean piece man. Although the guard in the background is looking a little too happy for our escaping convicts. but what do i know, maybe they're all on the same team. Let's go sketching next week!

I think Rag has a point.

I actually thought the guard was with them.. Almost as if he was saying 'How have I gotten into this mess!'

That would actually work in a way hehe..

Hey! Yea the band is.. new? Well, not new, but people are just starting to hear about them. They're a Vancouver band, I would say somewhat indie? They're good though! And the videos get on Much Music, so they're popular enough, which is cool! Thanks for your comment :)

I became internet friends with this guy a couple years ago over Myspace, who directs them, haha... Oh the internet...

Hey Dan! Its not so much the pose as i think that reads pretty clearly, its much more to do with the expression and to be less vague, the mouth. Also i think you can scale him down a bit pushing him into the background a bit more emphasizing how little control he has over the situation, or showing how much farther the prisoners have gotten :D hahahaha. Anyways keep at it buddy, i will let you know in advance when we're going for a sketch jam :) we'll catch up then! :)

For your first attempt at storytelling usin' backgrounds and characters, this is a very cool start.
