Some life drawings from monday's class with Cory, its his last this term so i'm not sure when i'll see him again for lifedrawing, but it was great having him "re-teach" me in a way, you can check his studio website at http://sketchengine.net/htmls/info.html its a studio that he and his close friend and fellow animator peter macadams started in 2006, you can also see peter's art on his site www.petermacadams.com and his blog which is in my links.

I also scanned some doodles and a little gag drawing of jay and thersea with cronus from class of the titans.

cafe drawing and more

Hey All,

So this is a some work from this weekend, i did some cafe drawing one page i did at a tim hortons downtown ( for non-canadian tim's is a big coffee chain in canada) and the other two at a big mall close to my place, i think it went well and i really want to do it again!

I scanned some doodles from my book and some digital work of skaters ( i used to skateboard during highschool so it felt nice to re-visit some old interests)

Lifedrawings

Hey Everyone,

Some life drawings from today, the model was very good so i think i got some nice poses in there, These poses vary from 2mins to 5mins max. i tried to focus on different parts of the model as you can tell i did some face studies.

I also cleaned and colored an older drawing of myself in a cartoony style, and yes i do own a pair of purple/dark red Nike's

Colors and mood

Hey Everyone,

I didn't scan any of monday's life drawings, i fell on my way to catch the bus from my house to get to class and messed up my palms and knee, so needless to say the drawing didn't go so well, but its better now.

So i just scanned some of my doodles from yesterday night, i also did a digital piece based off a song, it gave me a strong idea of adventure,sadness and reflection all in one, so i did my best to sort of express what i thought based on the song, in the piece i pictured a guy leaving a woman's apartment in the city just as its getting dark, and her sort of being quite happy to prehaps be free of the relationship.

Hey everyone,

I drew some people i found on the internet, its really fun and i had done it before in the past, i really suggest it to anyone looking to improve their observation skills.

I've also included a rough,rough storyboard that i did for Nerdcorps based on their 3D Tv show "dragoon booster" you can youtube some of it, well i didn't make it in but i did something new and i pushed myself in a short time to do it so i'm still happy with the result.

More Life drawings

Today's life drawing classes work, i took a morning and an afternoon class today with Adam, it was a first because i haven't done a full 2 classes of life drawing back to back! Anyway it was great and i wish i could do it more often, but life isn't easy and you have to do things that you don't like so...Anyway i think this is a pretty good batch of drawings, i had both a male and female model today, they both used quite a bit of props such as a stave,ball and even a club.

Life drawing is by far one of the most important aspects of getting better at drawing in general, another important thing to do is cafe drawing! I've been meaning to get into that as well as lots of great artists do this often to keep them sharp.

Lastly i highly suggest to anyone out there who hasn't already to either read or listen to some podcasts by some of the awesome artists on blogger, one of the biggest things i found helpful in designing characters or just drawing was reading what other designers do and think when working, I also find it interesting to hear experience from artists who've been working in the industry from some time, so look into Steve silver's blog and listen to his "art"casts.
